Pathfinder Character Builds: Paladin Dans

3/10/2023 in Pathfinder RPG by micah

Paladin Dans is good at what he does. He's a strong-blooded dwarf, brimming with unburdened strength, finding refuge among rock and stone, braced against mental attacks by his firm convictions, protected in battle by deep faith. It's unclear why a dwarf most comfortable in the dark depths would find a cause in The Dawnflower, but the goddess of fire and sunlight chose to empower Paladin Dans to become a generous and nurturing soul and a gifted and talented healer. He's an expert in armor and weapons, a powerful juggernaut with lightning reflexes, always ready to strike with retribution when his friends are attacked in battle.

Pathfinder Character Builds: Jiro Voss

3/4/2023 in Pathfinder RPG by micah

I'm creating this second-level character for Troubles in Otari. Voss is an aiuvarin (half-elf) rogue from the slums of Absalom who has joined a band of adventurers, not for fame and glory, but for cash that might buy a warm bed and a hot meal for once.

The second installment of "let me tell you about my character" is a Pathfinder 1E character, Vrogak, a Tiefling Unchained Barbarian/Brawler that I need to convert to 2E.

Getting Started with the Pathfinder RPG

8/11/2014 in Pathfinder RPG by micah

I wrote this page to help get new players thinking about the game before your first session. You don't need to know or understand any of the rules at this point. You don't need to figure out anything at this point, either. We'll walk you through all of the steps the first time you play. The idea behind this page is to get you thinking about your character before it's time to create one. Who are they? What do they do? What are they like? What's their back story? How do they get along with others?

Blogrimage 2014 Epilogue: Die Another Day

4/1/2014 in Pathfinder RPG by micah

I decided to add one last blogrimage post as an epilogue to yesterday's near-TPK (Total Party Kill) session. (Sorry, but it contains minor spoilers for anyone who hasn't played the Pathfinder Beginner Box adventures.) We had stopped play at a really good point to step back and think about what had happened, and figured out a way to roleplay our way out of the situation rather than undo it as if it hadn't happened.

Blogrimage 2014 Day 30: What Happens in the Mine Stays in the Mine

3/30/2014 in Pathfinder RPG by micah

I had planned to wrap up the blogrimage with a happy post about our characters finishing a fairly simple adventure and being promoted to second level. Instead, nobody had fun and everyone died.

I exercised GM's perogative, of course. Today's session never happened. It was all a collective bad dream. There were no prospectors to be rescued from an abandoned mine.

But I don't ever want to play a session like that again.

Blogrimage 2014 Day 29: Almost There

3/29/2014 in Pathfinder RPG by micah

There's one more day of this blogrimage remaining. I've spent the evening preparing for another round of Pathfinder RPG play tomorrow afternoon. The maps are drawn, but I've got two more character sheets to transfer over from Beginner Box to full rules (Happy Camper) character sheets before we play. The characters should level up during tomorrow's session, which should cap off the blogrimage nicely.

Blogrimage 2014 Day 28: Have you ever had a single moment's thought about my responsibilities?

3/28/2014 in Pathfinder RPG by micah

"Have you ever had a single moment's thought about my responsibilities? Have you ever thought for a single solitary moment about my responsibilities to my employers? Has it ever occurred to you that I have agreed to look after the Overlook Hotel until May the first? Does it matter to you at all that the owners have placed their complete confidence and trust in me, and that I have signed a letter of agreement, a contract, in which I have accepted that responsibility? Do you have the slightest idea what a moral and ethical principle is, do you?
